چکیده

Data-driven synthesis of human motion during conversational speech is an active research area with applications that include character animation, computer gaming and agents. Natural looking key to both perceived realism understanding any synthesised animation. Multi-modal body-motion data scarce limited, so it common augment real by mirroring the body pose double number training samples. This augmentation based on assumption a person’s gesturing not affected handedness reflected plausible. In this study, we explore validity evaluating reflective symmetry speaker’s arms exchanges. We analyse left right arm 36 subjects dyadic conversation present per-frame gestures. To identify temporal offsets caused presence leading hand, compute time lag between movements arms. perform nearest neighbour search test mirrored pose. also consider information theory examine gain from data. implement speech-to-gesture generative model determine efficacy lateral techniques for augmentation. Our findings suggest positional left–right vary speaker speaker. conclude valid in certain cases when considering as new virtual identity, but should be carefully considered generic approach if style original maintained.

A computational model of arm gestures in conversation

Currently no standardised gesture annotation systems are available. As a contribution towards solving this problem, CoGesT, a machine processable and human usable computational model for the annotation of a subset of conversational gestures is presented, its empirical and formal properties are detailed, and application areas are discussed. 1. A gesture representation strategy There is as yet no...

Bilateral Arm-Abduction Shoulder Radiography to Determine the Involvement of the Scapulothoracic Motion in Frozen Shoulder

Background: We hypothesize that there is no difference in the motion of the scapula with respect to the thoracic wall (scapulothoracic interface) between the affected versus non-affected shoulder on 0° and 90° standard arm abduction radiography. Methods: We enrolled 30 patients with the diagnosis of unilateral frozen shoulder after ruling out of other pathologies. Bilateral standard should...

Robust Periodic Motion and Motion Symmetry Detection

We describe a robust technique for detecting nonstationary periodic motion from a moving and static camera. We also describe a robust technique for discriminating motion symmetries (periodic motion classification), which we apply to classifying running humans (bipeds) and canines (quadrupeds). The system has been implemented to run in real-time (30 Hz) on standard PC workstations.

Arm coordination symmetry and breathing effect in front crawl.

This study analysed the relationships among arm coordination symmetry, motor laterality and breathing laterality during a 100-m front crawl, as a function of expertise. Ten elite swimmers (G1), 10 mid-level swimmers (G2), and 8 non-expert swimmers (G3) composed three skill groups, which were distinguished by velocity, stroke rate, stroke length, breathing frequency (BF) and the mean number of s...

Optimizing control motion of a human arm With PSO-PID controller

Functional electrical stimulation (FES) is the most commonly used system for restoring function after spinal cord injury (SCI). In this study, we used a model consists of a joint, two links with one degree of freedom, and two muscles as flexor and extensor of the joint, which simulated in MATLAB using SimMechanics and Simulink Toolboxes. The muscle model is based on Zajac musculotendon actuator...
